Solo Exhibition 03/22/2012
I am excited to have been asked to exhibit at the Dolly Hand Cultural Arts Center in Belle Glade this weekend. Thanks to Leigh Woodham, director of the theatre for inviting me. I know Leigh as a client, since I have been designing the theatre's season brochure for many years now. This has been my first trip out to the campus of Palm Beach State College in Belle Glade, and it is a beautiful setting. I am also excited to see "Celtic Fire" perform on Friday night to a sold out crowd. 1 Comment Florida Exhibition 09/21/2011
This weekend I am headed to Sarasota for the Florida Watercolor Exhibition. I am lucky enough to have been chosen as one of the exhibiting artists. This is truly an honor as the Florida Watercolor Society is the nation's largest and they receive thousands of entries each year. My "Reds" painting was chosen and will be hanging around such prestigious artists as, Sue Archer, Kitty Schachter, Dean Mitchell, Janet and Steve Rogers, Jeanne Dobie, Susan Hanssen and many more from around the state. I am thrilled to be listed among them and look forward to a fun art weekend with demonstrations, critiques, A New Admirer of my Art 03/17/2011
This has been a good St. Patrick's Day for me. I was working at the gallery space in Tequesta today and in walks Burt Reynolds and a couple buds of his. I try very hard to be cool and not stumble my words, but am floored when he says he wants to buy a pair of my shoes. I say coyly, which ones the red or the pink? The reds he says, and points to the framed giclee print, and then proceeds to hand me the money. I think I should receive an Oscar for how cooly I handled this transaction, cuz inside I was a freakin' mess. He then walked around the gallery and purchased a photo from another artist, which he proceeded to give to one of his friends. How nice was that? As they were leaving I shook his hand and said it was a pleasure meeting him and the other gentleman. His friend who got the photo leaned over to me and said, you know that is Burt Reynolds, and I ever so quietly say, oh yes. Not so good a day for my grandson Mason. As he was tumbling off the changing table again, Melissa caught him, but not before his head scraped the hinge of the closet door. Blood everywhere and EMT's on the way. Pediatrician used glue to put him back together and he is fine. His parents though have probably sprouted a few gray hairs. Boys - nuf said. Another hurdle! and then some... 01/22/2011
So I guess you could say, due to my lack of writing on this blog, that I do not have a lot to say. But usually what I come up with is worth listening to... I SOLD A PAINTING! (well at least to me this is worth shouting!) "My Space" is now being appreciated by someone else and I am thrilled. Thought I would be sad seeing a painting go, but I am happy someone else loves it enough to take it home and is enjoying it. Interesting enough is what happened last week, I got an email off of the contact from my site, a man writing to say he wanted to purchase "My Space" painting, it was a crudely written email, English was apparently not his first language, so I emailed him back and told him the price and he emailed me back with these elaborate instructions on how this transaction would go down. RED ALERT, he wanted my personal information for me to get a check from him. WELL, I was not born yesterday, so I sent him an email back saying the terms for the transaction would not work for me, what I needed from him was an address so I could figure shipping costs and then he could send me a check and I would wait for the bank to clear it and then I would send him the painting. Guess what, I never heard from him again, just saying it was funny that it was the same painting. Oh and another thing about selling the painting, is that it was bought by a woman from Wisconsin! Finally, I have my own website and my own blog. This is my attempt at self promotion, of which I am not too good at. But this is the beginning of a new year and I have already accomplished this task which I have been putting off for years. So Yeah me! I promise I will not bore you with details of what I had to eat today, unless of course it is a fabulous meal, cuz you know I am a foodie, or how my hair is behaving or which TV program I watched last night. So now I have to set an intention for what I do want to say... hmmmm Check back to see what I have come up with- 2G | Gail GanzlinEmerging artist, graphic designer, wife, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, sister, friend.
